January 16, 2004, Newsletter Issue #77: When Kitty does not like to be brushed

Tip of the Week

Cats naturally groom themselves and can take offense when you try to help them. One solution: Try purchasing two identical brushes. Start brushing Kitty with one of the brushes, when she reaches around and grabs that brush, let her have it. Then pick up the second brush and continue brushing. Whenever Kitty grabs the brush you are using, just pick up the other one and continue brushing. Eventually, Kitty will learn that you are not hurting her, and that it actually feels good.
