Taking a cat's temperature
To check your cat's temperature rectally, use a digital thermometer with K-Y jelly or Vaseline applied to the end. Press the button on the end of the thermometer prior to insertion and only insert the tip. Any further than this can cause serious internal damage to your pet. After the "Beep" remove thermometer and write results down prior to calling your veterinarian. This procedure should only be done in extreme emergencies and with the aid of another person.
