May 18, 2007, Newsletter Issue #166: Chirping sounds from Kitty

Tip of the Week

With un-altered females, a īchirpingī type of cat vocalization is a signal sheīs in heat (ovulating and ready for a mate.) They may also howl mournfully, if they are isolated from males.

Another possible reason for a catīs rapid clacking of itīs teeth, is if itīs excited by the prospect of a kill - Iīve heard this clicking sound when my cat has her eyes on a bird which has wandered close to the window.
