May 4, 2001, Newsletter Issue #36: The Heat Is On!

Tip of the Week

As the days lengthen and the mercury makes its steady climb upwards, now is the time to find adequate shelter from the heat for your outdoor cats. They can suffer from heatstroke just as easily as humans, as well as, skin cancer.

Any type of shade will help, but it`s important to make it as cool as possible. Cats can`t perspire to reduce their body temperature, so they need the outside air to help cool them. The shade should have plenty of air circulation to help Kitty keep cool.
